A STAR FOR CHRISTMAS

by DIVYA

ONE EVENING BEFORE CHRISTMAS,

IT WAS A FOGGY EVE, BUT ANYWAY -

THE SHOPS WERE FULL OF PEOPLE

BUYING GIFTS FOR THEIR BELOVED ONES.

ALL WERE HAPPY; FUN AND EXCITEMENT

WERE IN THEIR HUTS; EXCEPT FOR ONE -

ONE LITTLE ORPHAN BOY; FACE OF A

GENTLE, SWEET ANGEL BUT A WISTFUL FACE !

A HEART PINNING FOR LOVE; TO LOVE

AND TO BE LOVED; GAZING FORLORNLY

AT ALL AROUND !

CHILDREN OF HIS AGE WERE HAVING

HANDFUL OF GIFTS AND WERE

CHATTERING AWAY HAPPILY

THEY ALL HAD STARS FOR CHRISTMAS

IN THEIR HANDS

STARS - SMALL AND BIG, SHINING AND

PLAIN - ALL THEY HAD; EXCEPT HE

HE WISHED FOR ONE LITTLE STAR

TO HOLD IN HIS HANDS

HE HEARD THE BELLS TOLL AT THE CHURCH

HE WENT INSIDE TO PEEP AND

TO PUT FORWARD HIS FEELINGS.

HE CRIED "O DEAR LORD, I DO NOT WANT

RICHES, I DO NOT WANT TOYS AS

OTHER KIDS DO, AS I HAVE SO OFTEN SEEN

I ONLY WANT ONE LITTLE STAR.

ONE LITTLE STAR, I DO NEED FOR MYSELF."

A TEAR ROLLED DOWN HIS CHEEK

HE DID NOT CHECK IT, IT FELL DOWN

AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, WHERE

THE DROP OF TEAR LAY, HE SAW A STAR.

A STAR FOR CHRISTMAS.
